Who I am

I am Justine, a qualified person-centred counsellor trading as Poise Counselling, based in Radcliffe on Trent, Nottingham. I am the data controller for the personal information you provide to me. You can contact me at [email protected] or by phone on 07847 617052.

What information I collect

I may collect and hold the following personal information: your name, email address, phone number, and any information you share with me through the contact form or during our sessions. I only collect information that is necessary to provide my counselling services.

How I use your information

I use your personal information to respond to your enquiries, arrange and manage appointments, and provide counselling services. I do not use your information for marketing purposes, and I will never sell or share your personal data with third parties, except where required by law or in exceptional circumstances where there is a risk to life.

Confidentiality

Everything discussed in our sessions is kept strictly confidential. The only exceptions are if I have serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, in which case I would always aim to discuss this with you first before taking any action. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and receive regular clinical supervision; your information may be discussed in supervision in an anonymised form.

How long I keep your information

I retain client records for seven years after the end of our work together, in line with professional guidance. After this period, records are securely destroyed. If you are a prospective client who did not proceed to sessions, your contact details will be deleted within six months.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal information I hold about you, request that inaccurate information is corrected, request erasure of your data in certain circumstances, and object to or restrict how I process your data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact me at [email protected].

Keeping your data secure

I take the security of your personal information seriously. Any electronic records are stored securely and protected by appropriate technical measures. Paper records are kept in a locked cabinet. I will never send sensitive information via unencrypted email.

If you have a concern about how I handle your personal data, please contact me in the first instance. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
